Scents of Summer [Guest Post by Brennan of Wayward Girl]

Hey there fabulous ladies.

You know nothing makes "fashion" happier than when it can bring fashionistas together.
So, I'm pretty sure it will be satisfied with a post today.

My dear fellow blogger, Brennan from Wayward Girl

agreed to do a guest post for the this blog.

Since summer is coming, we thought that it will be a good idea to put up some inspiration boards for summer looks.
And trust me, this girl know what she's doing ;)

Let's check the look out!

----------------------------------------

If I had to choose one thing I loved most about Fashion Nectar, it would have to be Sally's awesome personal style posts, the lady knows how to put together an outfit.

That's why I decided to put two looks of my own together when she was sweet enough to let me guest post. The looks feature some of my favorite trends for the summer that are worth sprinkling through our closets.

METALLIC PRINCESS

Metalistic
[via polyvore]

1. I haven't seen this much glitter sense New Years Eve 1999. This summer put on as much glam as you possibly can. I don't care if you're going out on the town or to the gym, the more sequins the better.

2. There are basic perennial staples that reemerge every season. Fall has plaid and spring has floral but this summer something silly happened. Leather dominated the Spring RTW runway which means, although it might be 100 degrees outside, don't be afraid to rock some leather shortie-shorts.

3. That said, it is going to be a scorching summer so when you're brave enough to rock a metallic cardigan and motorcycle pants, feel free to pair them with a sheer, light tank.

4. Red pumps will always be stylish. The end.

5. Maybe it was the massive international obsession with the Hunger Games, maybe it's just coincidence, but leather, metal, and weaponry-like statement jewelry are all right on-trend.

SOUTHERN BELLE

summer days

1. Crop tops are my absolute favorite trend for this summer. Maybe it's because I live in Texas and the summers here encourage as little clothing as possible, but whatever the reason, this summer we're all free to rock as many belly-button showcasing tops as we can fit in our closet.

2. Every classy southern belle needs a big straw hat. Even if you're a city slicker from up north, big sun hats are perfect for days at the beach, mornings at the farmer's market, and poolside lounging.

3. Any woman who can pull off high-waisted pants should do so in honor of the rest of us.

4. Although Jackie O, bug-eyed shades are slowly disappearing, vintage inspired sunglasses aren't going anywhere.

5. Not enough ladies rock scarves anymore. Tie it around your neck or wrap it around your head, either way, a silky scarf is the perfect feminine touch to any casual outfit.

6. I'm obsessed with these shoes, that's all :)

Happy Fashionizing!

Boyish Girl

Girls, have you ever wanted to be born as a boy?
Come on, I'm sure it's not just me.
Sometimes I'm just so fed up with all the social norms and cultural guidelines for "ladies,"
especially in Asian country like this. You have no idea how high context it is.

I know, being a girl has its bright side.
But I still cannot let go of the fact that being a boy is much more fun.
You get to do so many more daring stuff that your mom
wouldn't others wise let you do if you are a girl.

Even though, it's a little too late for us to be a boy now,
(My mom is the one to blame, isn't she? lol)
we all know that with a little help from fashion, we can be a step closer to it.

Here, I pair my long-sleeve shirt with jean shorts
and add suspenders to give that  old-school boy look,
alongside with masculine looking leather shoes

I love this look because it's casual, playful,
and it can make me feel that I can have more fun with life.

So tell me girls
Say, if you were a boy for a day, what would you do?

Stay handsome,

Sally N.

Emilio Pucci: Sharp as a Tack

After I first saw the entire collection of Emilio Pucci, my thought was,
“I really need to write about this.”
Yes, I really do.

Pucci brought the significance of “well-tailored” clothing
that somehow has been neglected back to the latest fall 2012 runway.
All details, from stitch of the inseam
to the curvature of the skin-tight dress, have been taken care of.

They chose formal-looking fabric such as leather, chiffon,
and satin and combined them to create that sharp cocktail-party look.

The collection also features some masculine pieces,
using tux with cropped high-waist trouser.
With semi-casual business look, the outfit smartly implies that
"This is what successful women will look like."

Personally, what I like most is the nude collection.
The sharp tan leather cropped pants and out-of-nowhere nude fur could easily
steal all the attentions from the audiences
who are mad for simple-yet-classy style.

So far, the super neat tailoring is still the main feature
through out the entire collection.

The show built up itself to the end with the increasing length
of dresses and the more formal look, just like most collections do.
I personally think the semi-see through black gown
is a bit more stunning than the white finale gown.
Even without a fur coat, it still managed to look quite elegant
in a mysterious way, which can perfectly represent
the characteristics of high-society ladies.

All in all, the collection is undeniably stunning and less predictable
than most of its previous collections that usually feature original vivid prints.
It's sharp, smart, and elegant.
Pretty much what us women could possibly ask for.

Stay pretty,

Sally N.

A Walk to Remember

Warning: I will get really whiny after these photos...

Before I whine, let's look at the fashion first.
Nothing fancy here.
Just a beautiful morning with simple but detailed outfit.
I chose a flowy floral dress with half-calf length
because it will appear more casual than a full-length maxi.

The dress was a little big,
so I added a thin belt to emphasize female silhouette and create a waistline.
It also elongated the bottom half of my body as well.

A small detail always counts if you do it right.

For this trip, it was actually the last trip with my class of 2012 at the university.
A graduation trip.

A trip that signaled that ... after 4 years together, it's time to part.

Actually I don't know what to whine about.
All the thoughts kind of stuck within, and cannot be properly explained.
I guess it's just a normal fear that most humans have toward changes and farewell.

But come to think about it...
Aren't we lucky that we have something that can make saying goodbye so hard?

So maybe it's something to be happy and thankful for.
Maybe it isn't so bad.
Maybe it's just the way to make us cherish and miss each other even more.

The most awesome bitches in the whole world, Mee and Jane :)

Me and my girls have been struggled together
through silly teenage life for the past years .
They have been the best for me, and they always will be.

Even though we will be separated to our own path soon,
I'm sure friendship will always find a way back to its place.

And when the sun rises,
we will meet again at our little walk and talk in the beautiful morning

Just like this.

For now, all that left is just a beautiful memory.

A very precious one

Stay pretty,

Sally N.
